February 2024

On 8 February, PwC Foundation officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) to enhance their collaboration and expand their long standing partnership.

It is worth noting that the PwC Foundation believes in the power of education and culture, youth entrepreneurship, and volunteerism, as these are the driving forces behind growth, employment, and prosperity. In this framework the PwC Foundation provides scholarships to excellent, economically vulnerable first-year students at the University of Cyprus and the Cyprus University of Technology, as well as offers financial awards to students who excel in various academic institutions.

This new  strategic collaboration with CUT, aims  to back CUT's EUt+ alliance activities! EUt+ is an incredible initiative uniting eight universities across Europe, including CUT, working towards offering joint degrees as one European University.

PwC Foundation is committed to supporting CUT and the EUt+ Alliance in various activities, including student mentoring, access to talent, organization of workshops and events, joint proposal development, and corporate social responsibility initiatives. Exciting times ahead as we work together to shape the future of education and technology!

TechWeCan

The TechWeCan by PwC Foundation was launched to ignite students' passion for emerging technologies and foster their understanding of tech careers. This extracurricular initiative aimed to provide a comprehensive education in technological fields, preparing students, between the age of 12 to 15 years old, for the challenges of the future.

With guidance from PwC's data scientists and operation consultants, students dive in into virtual reality, robotics, artificial intelligence, and more. Engaging presentations, captivating videos, and interactive activities deepened their knowledge and stimulated their curiosity.

The programme's first stage explores the application of technology in diverse fields such as retail, food, history, education, and entertainment.

To further enhance their experience, the second stage involves an immersive visit to PwC's Experience Centre in Nicosia. Here, students have hands-on access to state-of-the-art technologies, including virtual reality glasses, holograms, and augmented reality solutions. By engaging with these cutting-edge tools, students develop their problem-solving skills and gain insights into the real-world applications of emerging technologies.

PwC Cyprus together with Junior Achievement Cyprus organised for the first time the 'Girls Go Circular' workshop at PwC's Experience Center.

At the core of the project is the Circular Learning Space (CLS).  An online learning platform including multiple modules that impart digital skills while exploring the circular economy from different angles.

While the activities proposed challenge students to use digital tools to complete assignments, the focus on the circular economy provides knowledge about the big challenges of our time, empowering students to become agents of change in the socio-ecological transition.

Culture

The PwC Cyprus Foundation promotes cultural life and the arts believing that culture can be a real lever for transformation. We support cultural foundations such as the Pharos Arts Foundation and initiatives like the Treasures of Cyprus documentary which through their activities promote the Arts and Culture.
