PwC Cyprus: Strategic Intellectual Property Management Drives Business Growth

The first event of the new PwC Limassol Insights Series initiative was held in Limassol

The importance of intellectual property (IP) as a driver of business growth, innovation and competitiveness was highlighted during an event organised by PwC Cyprus on Wednesday, 4 November 2026, at the Amathus Hotel in Limassol.

The event, entitled “Strategic Intellectual Property Management & Valuation”, marked the launch of PwC Cyprus’ new “Limassol Insights Series” initiative. The initiative aims to create a platform for knowledge sharing and the exchange of ideas in Limassol. It will also encourage meaningful dialogue among professionals and business leaders, while promoting networking opportunities and fostering trusted, long-term professional relationships.

The presentations and discussions explored key aspects of identifying, protecting, strategically managing and valuing intellectual property, with particular emphasis on technology, software, and brands. The event also highlighted the role of intangible assets in creating business value and unlocking new growth opportunities.

Professor James Conley of the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University participated in the event, addressing strategic intellectual property management and its connection to broader business strategy.

Commenting on the event, Tony Hadjiloucas, Partner and Head of the Limassol and Paphos office at PwC Cyprus, stated: “Intellectual property is one of the most important assets of many modern businesses, particularly in the technology, software and services sectors. However, its value is not always fully recognised, and opportunities for its commercial exploitation often remain untapped. For Cyprus, which is home to a growing number of international businesses with significant expertise and intangible assets - that represent around 90% of business value - the strategic management of intellectual property is becoming increasingly important. It is not simply a matter of protecting rights or tax planning, but a key driver of business growth, investment attraction and enhanced competitiveness.”
