Social action by PwC Cyprus for a better tomorrow

True to its vision for a better tomorrow and to the values of social responsibility which characterise it, PwC Cyprus carried out a number of social and volunteerism actions, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility programme.

Social work

For the 15th consecutive year, PwC organised its regular annual blood donation drive at its offices in Nicosia, Limassol and Paphos in support of the Central Blood Bank, with 100 PwC employees participating. It is worth noting that the Blood Donation Day was organised to coincide with the UNICEF bazaar that was held at PwC’s offices.

In addition, the organisation once again this year supported the “One dream, one wish” foundation with the participation of Partner and Head of Tax and Legal Service Theodoros Parperis and Senior Manager Andreas Iosif in the AJ Bell London Triathlon which was staged in London. Within the context of its members’ participation in this sports event, PwC carried out a campaign on social media, raising €13,ooo which was donated to the foundation.

Moreover, for the fourth consecutive year, PwC donated the sum of money budgeted for the purchase of Christmas cards to the “Mana” kindergarten. The children designed Christmas cards especially for PwC which were converted into e-cards and sent to associates and clients. In addition, rather than giving gifts, the organisation chose to give financial support to twelve families in need, as part of the “Adopt a family this Christmas” initiative organised under the auspices of the Pancyprian Volunteer Coordinating Council.

Finally, during the financial year, PwC supported a large number of charity organisations and associations such as Radiomarathon, Europa Donna, the Centre for Preventive Paediatrics, the Karaiskakio Foundation, the Cyprus Red Cross and many other non-profit organisations, thereby helping them to achieve their aims.

 

Support for Cypriot companies

Last October, PwC announced a new support programme for Cypriot companies, which includes a series of actions and events, conferences and other activities by the organisation for 2016-2017 on business issues.  Indicatively, events staged in the past months include the presentation of the book “Strategy That Works” and of the study “Capturing the Social Media use in the Cyprus Hotel Industry.”

 

Youth entrepreneurship

Within the framework of its Corporate Social Responsibility programme and for the second consecutive year, PwC organised in cooperation with the University of Cyprus, the 2nd Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum aiming to educate the university community, academia and Cyprus society more.

In addition, the organisation cooperates with Chrysalis Leap, the first Cypriot accelerator of business ideas, the Cyprus Business Angels Network (CYBAN), a network of private investors/business ‘angels’, the Cypriot Enterprise Link (CEL), a youth organisation aiming to offer networking and support to Cyprus’ business talents, and Junior Achievement, a non-profit organisation which specialises in offering training on youth entrepreneurship issues.
