To host event in Hollywood in cooperation with the US Academy of Motion Pictures Art and Sciences
Taking an active role in the advancement of women as leaders in the business world, PwC is again this year organising the world forum “Aspire to Lead” for pupils and students from all over the world. The aim of this successful event is to raise public awareness about the inequalities facing women and to offer support to young people to develop their leadership skills.
The event will be held in Hollywood, California on 17 February, in cooperation with the US Academy of Motion Pictures Art and Sciences in an effort to tap the experiences and lessons regarding stereotypes and ‘’leading roles’’ in the US entertainment industry.
A key figure in the event will be award-winning actress Geena Davis, Co-Founder of the Bentonville Film Festival and Founder of the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media. Davis will speak on the advancement of women in the motion picture industry and shares her own experiences.
PwC Global Talent Leader Michael Fenlon will then coordinate a panel discussion on gender portrayals in the media and the role of women in the workplace. The panel will be made up of Geena Davis, Academy CEO Dawn Hudson, Academy Award nominee and director Jennifer Yuh Nelson and PwC US Advisory Senior Associate Peter Yobo.
Through the discussion, participating pupils and students will come into contact with ideas on how they can capitalise on experiences from the business environment of Hollywood to promote their career, overcoming any obstacles they may face because of their gender.
Through this initiative, PwC continues to promote the engagement of pupils, clients, staff and their families and friends from all over the world, in a dialogue on the involvement of women in leadership issues.
The feedback from participants in similar events has been particularly positive, with 94% saying they were inspired to embrace their ambitions and pursue their goals as a result of these webcasts.
The live webcast of the event will be held on 17 February 2016, at 18:30 pm Cyprus time and will open to the public through the website pwc.com/aspire.
