PwC Webcast: "Restart Cyprus:Now". Cyprus should be a greener, more digital and more resilient country

The unprecedented conditions we are experiencing as a result of the pandemic, have created multiple challenges for businesses, the economy and society in general. With the aim of supporting local businesses and society, PwC Cyprus organised an online webcast on Thursday, 4 March.

At the peak and for a considerable period of time we had 130 people watching live and the number of questions were indicative of the level of interest generated. The web event which was held in greek was focused on how to achieve the goal of economic recovery and transformation, in an effort to respond to the pandemic and effectively mitigate its impact, based on the priorities that have been set by the European Union under the Next Generation EU framework for a greener, digital and resilient economy.

The event was addressed by our CEO Mr Evgenios Evgeniou, while the Head of the European Commission Representation in Cyprus, Mr Ierotheos Papadopoulos, analysed the Recovery and Resilience Facility; a tool by the EU to emerge stronger from the current crisis.

A panel discussion followed, focusing on the EU’s initiatives under Next Generation EU, with special emphasis on how to support and strengthen businesses but also the economy. The panel was joined by the Permanent Secretary of the Directorate General of European Programmes, Coordination and Development, Mr Theodosis A. Tsiolas, the Member of the Cyprus Economy and Competitiveness Council and the Chief Economist of Hellenic Bank, Dr Andreas Assiotis as well as the Advisory Services Partner at PwC Cyprus, Mr Vassilios Vrachimis. The discussion was coordinated by journalist, Mr Yiannis Seitanides.
