2020 will mark the beginning of a new political phase for Europe. The year ahead brings not just a new European Parliament after elections in May 2019, but also new presidents of both the European Commission and the European Central Bank.
At the same time, the Eastern Mediterranean creates an important potential for business investment as Cyprus, Greece and Israel aim to establish the region as a significant investment hub.
Nevertheless, the United States’ economic and political involvement will be a significant factor for the developments in south-east Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean.
All the above subjects were discussed and analysed during the Economist conference that took place on 2 May 2019 at the Lotte New York Palace.
