Diversity & Inclusion

Diversity means different things to different people and organisations. At PwC, driving diversity means bringing together the perspectives of individuals from all backgrounds, life experiences, preferences and abilities to create better outcomes for our clients, our people, and our communities.

As we continue our efforts to drive enhanced awareness and translate it into concrete and comprehensive actions, we are delighted to report that we are making good progress. This year we achieved a high inclusion score, with 78% of our people saying that they believe PwC is an inclusive work environment, where individual differences are valued and respected.

Having this in mind, we continue to work towards making PwC an even more inclusive workplace for all our people. Some of the key actions of our diversity journey are outlined in the next sections.

Inclusion Index

In November 2017 we have submitted to the Global Diversity & Inclusion Team our Inclusion Index, which is our method of rating our diversity and inclusion initiatives and progress. The objective is to track the progress we make in diversity and inclusion, hold our leaders accountable for the progress, and drive a data driven approach to diversity decision making and local action planning.

The Inclusion Index is a composite index comprised of two core buckets – a gender diversity score and an
inclusion score – each accounting for 50% of the total Index score. Based on a combination of quantitative (people analytics and annual global people survey results) and qualitative measures (namely the maturity model), the Index provides a score out of 100. The scores from each PwC network firm are then averaged to generate our Global Inclusion Index score. Our score for FY17 was 58% which was a bit lower compared to the average score of the 21 strategic territories. Having this in mind, we will continue to work hard towards making PwC an even more inclusive workplace for all our people.

International Day of People with Disabilities

On 3 December 2017, as part of our efforts to embrace Diversity in its various forms, we have celebrated the 'International Day of People with Disabilities' (IDPD) by donating to the Cyprus Autistic Association relevant ergo therapy equipment, to cover the needs of their centers.

The observance of the day aims to raise awareness about the benefits of integrating disabled people into every aspect of life, from economic, to political, to social and cultural. The theme for this year’s IDPD is “Transformation towards sustainable and resilient society for all”.

Digital Fitness

To ensure we are fit for the future, in September 2017 we have launched the Digital Fitness Solution/App which will encourage and support us to become more confident, comfortable and curious about all things digital (products, developments, client offerings etc.). 
 
The digital agenda is important to our network-wide strategy, and locally we are seeing this is in real terms with our stated ambition to grow revenues from technology-related areas, including AI, cyber security and data analytics.

The app is free to download from the Apple Store for iOS devices. It can also be accessed from a website for people who have android phones or who prefer to access it from their laptop or desktop.

Once in the app users are invited to complete a self -assessment which takes less than 15 mins. They are then presented with a personalised score which helps them to understand their starting point. Based on their score the app suggests recommended learning to encourage users to broaden their knowledge and develop further.
