Overview

The application process commences in June each year (one year before graduation).

The training contract commences in September the following year.

 

How to apply

The application process commences one year before graduation.

The application process and interviews commence as of 1 June each year. It is highly recommended that candidates apply the earliest time possible as this scheme is very competitive.

Professional Examinations

The ACCA examinations are divided into 3 levels:

  1. Applied Knowledge Level

This level includes 3 examinations, which provide you with a broad introduction to the world of finance and develop your essential understanding and techniques in accounting:

  • Accountant in Business (AB)
  • Management Accounting (MA)
  • Financial Accounting (FA)

2. Applied Skills Level

This level includes 6 examinations, which develop strong, broad and practical finance skills required of future strategic professional accountant in any sector or industry:

  • Corporate and Business Law (LW)
  • Performance Management (PM)
  • Taxation (TX)
  • Financial Reporting (FR)
  • Audit and Assurance (AA)
  • Financial Management (FM)

3. Strategic Professional Level  

This level includes 4 examinations. It assesses the more advanced and sophisticated techniques that a professional needs, in order to specialise in specific areas at work. This level is also divided into 2 modules:

(a) The Essentials module

  • Strategic Business Leader (SBL)
  • Strategic Business Reporting (SBR)

(b) The Options module (2 examinations must be completed out of the 4 options)

  • Advanced Financial Management (AFM)
  • Advanced Performance Management (APM)
  • Advanced Taxation (ATX)
  • Advanced Audit and Assurance (AAA)

Exemptions

Trainees are eligible to apply for a maximum of 9 exemptions at the Applied Knowledge & Applied Skills levels from the ACCA examinations, if they provide evidence that the learning outcomes have been met as part of their academic or professional studies.

Exam centre

All examinations are held in Cyprus.

Course method

ACCA trainees attend afternoon courses (i.e. 18:00 – 21:00) and/or weekend courses and/or blended courses (combination of online study and classroom courses).

ACCA membership

In order to obtain the ACCA membership, you must successfully complete the following:

  1. A total of 13 examinations as described above

  2. Practical Experience Requirement (PER)

  • Completing 3-years of employment in an accounting or finance-related role(s)
  • Achieving performance objectives to the satisfaction of your workplace mentor
  • Recording and reporting your PER progress through the Trainee Development Matrix (TDM) (Note: PwC is a platinum ACCA Approved Employer. Therefore, you are exempt from using the TDM)
  • Making a PER return each year: As part of the PER, you are required to submit an annual return stating what practical experience obtained, if any, in the last 12 months.

3. Ethics and Professional Skills Module

You are required to complete the Ethics and Professional Skills module, which gives you exposure to a range of ethical perspectives and includes several self-tests.

  • Academic background:

       - Be an undergraduate university student, in any field of study

       - Expect to graduate from university with a minimum grade as follows:

       University of Cyprus 7,5/10

       Other local universities 3,33/4

       Greek universities 7,5/10

       UK universities 2:1 (i.e. 60-69%)

       USA universities 3,33/4

  • Fluency in English
  • Fluency in Greek will be considered an advantage
