Aim of the course

The seminar will use specialized tools that will help participants to better understand their personality as well as the diversity between individuals.  Building on this knowledge, participants can find better ways to improve their personal effectiveness as regards communication, time management and stress management.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • understand themselves and others better and appreciate different ways of thinking and behaving
  • receive a personalised report on their personality type
  • learn how to adapt own behaviours to meet the needs of others
  • understand how to make positive powerful impact
  • communicate more effectively with others
  • understand how to spend time more effectively
  • be able to prioritise important matters in their workplace
  • have practised how to become more effective in meetings
  • understand better what is stress and how they can manage it
  • know how to retain strengths and formulate a personal action plan to develop further
  • develop their personal strategy on enhancing their personal effectiveness

Course outline

Understanding self and others using MBTI (Myers Briggs Type Indicator)

  •  Presenting the history/background, principles and key parameters of MBTI
  • Using a number of exercises, participants identify their own MBTI type and how others are different
  • Comparing self assessment with the reported type from the questionnaire completed by participants prior to the course

Making Positive Impact

  • Presenting the Personal Power Model (establishing Authority, Presence and Impact)
  • Discussing how to use MBTI types to communicate better with others
  • Learning how to use active listening and effecting questioning when communicating 

Time Management

  • Identifying the various components of effective time management
  • Learning how to prioritize tasks
  • Identifying and reducing time wasters using a group exercise  
  • Group exercise on team meetings – participants are split in groups and each group runs a meeting to identify principles of effective meeting 
  • Discussion on key leanings from the exercise and key principles identified   
  • Participants develop personal action plan to manage their time more effectively

Managing stress

  • Presenting distinction between good and toxic stress
  • Discussing stress sources and symptoms (physical and emotional)
  • Presenting the 5 step approach to deal with stress
  • Using the MBTI, participants identify energisers and stressors of their type
  • Participants develop personal action plan to manage their stress more effectively
